Maps of Home

Maps of Home is an ongoing series by Nomadicsea that follows Jason van der Spuy and Luca Ceruti to their favorite kitesurfing spots — from iconic beaches like Kite Beach, the home of the Red Bull King of the Air (the biggest kitesurfing event in the world), to hidden gems only locals know how to find.

With multiple episodes across two seasons (and more to come), the series dives into their personalities, daily lives, and what it means to chase wind in the world’s biggest playground: the ocean.

Keep your eyes peeled for new seasons coming out soon.

Season 1

Episode 1

In this first action packed episode the kitesurfers, Jason and Luca, drive four hours up the East coast to score a butter flat, progressive big air kitesurf session. Witsand, Breede River is notorious for its nuking winds, flat water and world record bull sharks.

Episode 2

In this Episode of Maps of Home, Jason and Luca drive down the coast to another notoriously shark filled spot called Macassar. Macassar offers crazy conditions on a handful of days throughout the season, but if you manage to score one of them, you’re in for the session of a lifetime. It is one of the best big air kite spots in the world with nuking winds and decent kickers to the left.

Episode 3

In this episode, ‪@thesaffas‬ and ‪@luca_ceruti_‬ take on the home of Big Air Kiteboarding, Dolphin Beach. Jason was born and raised in Cape Town with Blouberg being his home Kitesurfspot since he started Kitesurfing as a Kid at the age of 4. 19 years later both of the riders favor this Kiteboarding spot over every other kitespot around the world and they show you what is possible at Dolphin Beach. Massive kickers and 35-40 knots of true South East wind is when “the best Kitesurfing spot in the World” at Blouberg comes alive.

Episode 4

In this last episode of Maps of Home we end off at Luca’s home spot, Langebaan. Known for its offshore winds and onshore kickers, Langebaan creates similar big air conditions to the notorious Tarifa. It’s a spot that only works when all the elements align – wind, waves and tide. Fortunately enough we managed to score the absolute best days of the season there and we can’t wait for you to see what it can be like in this episode. This is episode is the grande finale of season 1, but it’s only the beginning of something much bigger. Stay tuned for season 2 coming to you next year February.

Season 2

Episode 1

In This Episode we take you to a spot in Cape Town that we all know, but never kite. No, it’s not Big Bay, It’s actually Small Bay. A spot that creates water conditions better than the infamous Tarifa.

Episode 2

In this Episode we take you to the most beautiful location around Cape Town for kiteboarding and paragliding.
